The Spring Clean-up and Planting is a major
activity of the Association.
In recent years it has been
assisted by a grant from the investment
firm of Goldman-Sachs, which
sends volunteers to join neighborhood people in sprucing
up the Park and planting flowers and bushes.
The
Jersey City
Parks
and Forestry Department provides tools and plants for
the Park.
On this occasion, flowering
bushes are planted in memory of members who passed away
during the past year.
The major fund-raising activity for the
Association is its Fall Fair and Flea Market held in the
Park.
Vendors pay a fee for space, and
Association volunteers run a table with merchandise and
refreshments.
Music and entertaining
activities for youngsters are provided.
On the third Thursday of December, the
Association holds a Holiday Party at a local restaurant.
On Memorial Day each year, members meet at the
monument in the Park to honor the memory of Sgt. Joseph
P. Anthony.
